A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offers residents choices of housing, services, activities and health care all at the same location. In addition to independent living, there are several levels of care that may include assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and memory support. When personal needs change, levels of care may change, as well, without having to leave the community.

Q: How much does it cost to live here?
For independent living, Newcastle Place is an entrance fee community with a monthly service fee. Service fees vary based on the size of the apartment or carriage home. The service fee also includes restaurant-style dining, interior and exterior maintenance, weekly housekeeping, flat linen service, electric, heat, water, basic cable television service and a 24-hour emergency call system.

Entrance fees vary by size and style of each apartment or carriage home. They are 90% refundable to you, should you leave, or to your estate.

Q: What does it mean to be a not-for-profit organization?
Since we do not have to answer to shareholders, all revenue after operating expenses is given right back to the community for improvement projects, staffing in important areas such as health care, new programming and more. We invest in residents first.

Q: Is there an entrance fee for assisted living?
No entrance fee is required for assisted living or skilled nursing if you enter into Newcastle Place via these areas. You simply pay your monthly fee along with any additional costs one might incur for services rendered.

Q: Is there a long-term contract upon admittance to assisted living?
No. Admission to assisted living is a month-to-month agreement and can be terminated with an appropriate 30-day notice.

Q: Are assisted living apartments furnished?
Assisted living apartments feature microwave and refrigerator, and some amenities such as window blinds, cable TV and utilities. Residents bring in their own personal kitchen, living room and bedroom furniture.

Q: What are the requirements for acceptance to Memory Care?
Admission requires a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or dementia, and an activated health care power of attorney. This means that two doctors have deemed the individual incompetent or unable to make his or her own decisions.

Q: Is the Memory Support residence secure for residents who may wander?
Yes — All exit doors are alarmed. The alarm sounds someone pushes on the door. If they push the door for approximately 4-9 seconds, it will open, but the nursing staff will have been alerted in enough time to check the door and resident. If a resident is wearing a pendant, the elevator will not activate and an alarm will also sound to alert the staff.

No, residents bring their own furniture, including a bed, night stand, dresser, chair, and T.V., along with any personal items that will make the room feel like home.
