CBRF and security for residents.
Frequently Asked Questions

What is “CBRF”?

CBRF is an acronym for Community Based Residential Facility.

What is the admission requirement for the CBRF?

As our memory support unit, the CBRF requires a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or dementia, and an activated health care power of attorney. This means that two doctors have deemed the individual incompetent or unable to make their own decisions.

Is the CBRF secure for those residents that may wander?

Yes – All exit doors are alarmed with delayed egress opening. What that means is the door alarms when someone pushes on the door. If they push the door for approximately 4-9 seconds it will open, but the nursing staff will have been alerted in enough time to check the door and resident. If a resident is wearing a pendant, the elevator will not activate and an alarm will sound to also alert staff.

Do the CBRF rooms come furnished?

No, the rooms in the CBRF do not come furnished. Upon admittance residents moving to the Memory Support Unit should expect to provide all of the basic furniture including a bed, night stand, dresser, chair, T.V., etc… along with any personal items that will make the room feel like home.
